Outreach
Science communication and community engagement.
Science communication
I regularly serve as a science expert at public outreach events, including Darwin Day, Science Bag events, the ROSE (Resources and Opportunities in Science Education) project, and the Millennium Girls Event, sharing animal behavior and ecology with audiences of all ages.
Mentoring and K-12 engagement
Through the Mentor Matching Engine I have mentored high-school students on independent research projects, guiding them from a unique, testable question all the way through interpreting their data.
Department and community service
I organize the Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior journal club at UW-Milwaukee and have served as a curatorial assistant for the department’s avian collection. I have also held secretary roles for several graduate science organizations (GOBS, SACNAS, and Phi-Sigma) and coached junior-varsity basketball in the Milwaukee area.
